Yesterday was our 12th wedding anniversary so we went out of town to visit Nashville, TN, aka Music City. I haven't been there since I was little and have very few, vague memories of it (Nashville Now and Shotgun Red stand out in my mind the best).
Anyone else remember this guy? Think I still have the puppet somewhere.
Will has never been so basically a first time visit for both of us. We started out the day by just walking downtown Music Row. Lots of little shops to look in and bars with live music playing all day. We walked every street and ate lunch at a taco place called Bajo Sexto Taco.
I had a yummy fish taco and their chips and salsa (which looked like spicy ketchup) were really good. We also toured Ryman Auditorium which was ok, but not my favorite.
And who should we run into by an Adventures by Disney group touring the place! We casually followed for a minute and listened. Their guide sounded awesome! If you're interested in an long weekend with Adventures by Disney, shoot me an email and I can get started with your planning!
We left from there to check into our cute little bed and breakfast, Linden Manor, we were staying at for the night, put our bag in our room and headed out to check out 12th Avenue. We stopped by a coffee house, called Frothy Monkey, and I had a yummy caramel macchiato, and checked out a few shops.
We had tickets for the Grand Ole Opry that evening so we went ahead and drove over there for dinner and to check out that part of town. We ate dinner at the Opry Backstage Grill. Pretty cool place! Good food and the waiters/waitresses randomly take the stage and sing. I had a really good smoked chicken salad sandwich. Our waiter was chit-chatting with us, and Will had mentioned that we were there for our anniversary. A few minutes later a singing waiter dedicated a song to us. Awwww. And then our waiter brought us a HUGE piece of very chocolatey cake! So sweet!
We ended our night at the Grand Ole Opry. If you've never been you should check it out even if you're not a county music fan. I only knew who a couple of singers were and a few songs, but it was still really fun! The Adventures by Disney group was there and got a shout-out a few different times from a few singers.
The next day, we started with a really good egg omelet at our bed and breakfast. Then we checked out, said goodbye to our sweet hostess, and headed back downtown to tour the Country Music Hall of Fame. I loved this place! So much history and cool stuff in there.
Then it was time to head back home to our kiddos. Such a fun little weekend getaway!
